The purpose of this study is to examine the association between the consumption of fruits, vegetables, fruit juices and differentiated thyroid cancer risk within the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC) study. The EPIC study is a cohort including over half a million participants, recruited between 1991 and 2000. During a mean follow-up of 14 years, 748 incident first primary differentiated TC cases were identified. F&V and fruit juice intakes were assessed through validated country-specific dietary questionnaires. Hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were estimated using Cox regression models adjusted for potential confounding factors. Comparing the highest versus lowest quartile of intake, differentiated TC risk was not associated with intakes of total F&V (HR: 0.89; 95% CI: 0.68-1.15; p-trend = 0.44), vegetables (HR: 0.89; 95% CI: 0.69-1.14; p-trend = 0.56), or fruit (HR: 1.00; 95% CI: 0.79-1.26; p-trend = 0.64). No significant association was observed with any individual type of vegetable or fruit. However, there was a positive borderline trend with fruit juice intake (HR: 1.23; 95% CI: 0.98-1.53; p-trend = 0.06). This study did not find any significant association between F&V intakes and differentiated TC risk; however a positive trend with fruit juice intake was observed, possibly related to its high sugar content. 000131743 536__ $$0G:(DE-HGF)POF3-313$$a313 - Cancer risk factors and prevention (POF3-313)$$cPOF3-313$$fPOF III$$x0 000131743 588__ $$aDataset connected to CrossRef, PubMed, 000131743 7001_ $$aBéraud, Virginie$$b1 000131743 7001_ $$aFranceschi, Silvia$$b2 000131743 7001_ $$aCayssials, Valerie$$b3 000131743 7001_ $$aTsilidis, Konstantinos K$$b4 000131743 7001_ $$aBoutron-Ruault, Marie-Christine$$b5 000131743 7001_ $$aWeiderpass, Elisabete$$b6 000131743 7001_ $$aOvervad, Kim$$b7 000131743 7001_ $$aTjønneland, Anne$$b8 000131743 7001_ $$aEriksen, Anne K$$b9 000131743 7001_ $$aBonnet, Fabrice$$b10 000131743 7001_ $$aAffret, Aurélie$$b11 000131743 7001_ $$0P:(DE-He78)fb68a9386399d72d84f7f34cfc6048b4$$aKatzke, Verena$$b12$$udkfz 000131743 7001_ $$0P:(DE-He78)0907a10ba1dc8f53f04907f54f6fdcfe$$aKühn, Tilman$$b13$$udkfz 000131743 7001_ $$aBoeing, Heiner$$b14 000131743 7001_ $$aTrichopoulou, Antonia$$b15 000131743 7001_ $$aValanou, Elisavet$$b16 000131743 7001_ $$aKarakatsani, Anna$$b17 000131743 7001_ $$00000-0002-5758-9069$$aMasala, Giovanna$$b18 000131743 7001_ $$aGrioni, Sara$$b19 000131743 7001_ $$aSantucci de Magistris, Maria$$b20 000131743 7001_ $$aTumino, Rosario$$b21 000131743 7001_ $$aRicceri, Fulvio$$b22 000131743 7001_ $$aSkeie, Guri$$b23 000131743 7001_ $$aParr, Christine L$$b24 000131743 7001_ $$aMerino, Susana$$b25 000131743 7001_ $$aSalamanca-Fernández, Elena$$b26 000131743 7001_ $$aChirlaque, Maria-Dolores$$b27 000131743 7001_ $$aArdanaz, Eva$$b28 000131743 7001_ $$aAmiano, Pilar$$b29 000131743 7001_ $$aAlmquist, Martin$$b30 000131743 7001_ $$00000-0002-6500-6310$$aDrake, Isabel$$b31 000131743 7001_ $$aHennings, Joakim$$b32 000131743 7001_ $$aSandström, Maria$$b33 000131743 7001_ $$aBueno-de-Mesquita, H B As$$b34 000131743 7001_ $$aPeeters, Petra H$$b35 000131743 7001_ $$aKhaw, Kay-Thee$$b36 000131743 7001_ $$aWareham, Nicholas J$$b37 000131743 7001_ $$aSchmidt, Julie A$$b38 000131743 7001_ $$00000-0002-5652-356X$$aPerez-Cornago, Aurora$$b39 000131743 7001_ $$aAune, Dagfinn$$b40 000131743 7001_ $$aRiboli, Elio$$b41 000131743 7001_ $$aSlimani, Nadia$$b42 000131743 7001_ $$aScalbert, Augustin$$b43 000131743 7001_ $$aRomieu, Isabelle$$b44 000131743 7001_ $$aAgudo, Antonio$$b45 000131743 7001_ $$aRinaldi, Sabina$$b46 000131743 773__ $$0PERI:(DE-600)1474822-8$$a10.1002/ijc.30880$$gVol. 142, no. 3, p. 449 - 459$$n3$$p449 - 459$$tInternational journal of cancer$$v142$$x0020-7136$$y2018 000131743 909CO $$ooai:inrepo02.dkfz.de:131743$$pVDB 000131743 9101_ $$0I:(DE-588b)2036810-0$$6P:(DE-He78)fb68a9386399d72d84f7f34cfc6048b4$$aDeutsches Krebsforschungszentrum$$b12$$kDKFZ 000131743 9101_ $$0I:(DE-588b)2036810-0$$6P:(DE-He78)0907a10ba1dc8f53f04907f54f6fdcfe$$aDeutsches Krebsforschungszentrum$$b13$$kDKFZ 000131743 9131_ $$0G:(DE-HGF)POF3-313$$1G:(DE-HGF)POF3-310$$2G:(DE-HGF)POF3-300$$3G:(DE-HGF)POF3$$4G:(DE-HGF)POF$$aDE-HGF$$bGesundheit$$lKrebsforschung$$vCancer risk factors and prevention$$x0 000131743 9141_ $$y2018 000131743 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0420$$2StatID$$aNationallizenz 000131743 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0200$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bSCOPUS 000131743 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0300$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bMedline 000131743 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0310$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bNCBI Molecular Biology Database 000131743 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0100$$2StatID$$aJCR$$bINT J CANCER : 2015 000131743 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0199$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bThomson Reuters Master Journal List 000131743 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0110$$2StatID$$aWoS$$bScience Citation Index 000131743 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0150$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bWeb of Science Core Collection 000131743 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0111$$2StatID$$aWoS$$bScience Citation Index Expanded 000131743 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)1030$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bCurrent Contents - Life Sciences 000131743 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)1050$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bBIOSIS Previews 000131743 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)9905$$2StatID$$aIF >= 5$$bINT J CANCER : 2015 000131743 9201_ $$0I:(DE-He78)C020-20160331$$kC020$$lEpidemiologie von Krebserkrankungen$$x0 000131743 980__ $$ajournal 000131743 980__ $$aVDB 000131743 980__ $$aI:(DE-He78)C020-20160331 000131743 980__ $$aUNRESTRICTED
