Previous studies have yielded conflicting results, been underpowered to assess many lymphoma subtypes, or lacked detailed information on relevant exposures. Within the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition cohort, we analyzed comprehensive data collected at baseline (1992-2000) on reproductive factors and exogenous hormone use among 343,458 women, including 1,427 incident B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphomas (NHL) and its major subtypes identified after a mean follow-up of 14 years (through 2015). We estimated hazard ratios and 95% confidence intervals using multivariable proportional hazards modeling. Overall, we observed no statistically significant associations between parity, age at first birth, breastfeeding, oral contraceptive use or ever use of postmenopausal hormone therapy and risk of B-cell NHL or its subtypes. Women who had a surgical menopause had a 51% higher risk of B-cell NHL (based on 67 cases) compared with natural menopause (hazard ratio=1.51, 95% confidence interval=1.17, 1.94). Given that this result may be due to chance, our results provide little support for the hypothesis that sex hormones play a role in lymphomagenesis. 000141817 536__ $$0G:(DE-HGF)POF3-313$$a313 - Cancer risk factors and prevention (POF3-313)$$cPOF3-313$$fPOF III$$x0 000141817 588__ $$aDataset connected to CrossRef, PubMed, 000141817 7001_ $$aLujan-Barroso, Leila$$b1 000141817 7001_ $$aBenavente, Yolanda$$b2 000141817 7001_ $$aAllen, Naomi E$$b3 000141817 7001_ $$aAmiano, Pilar$$b4 000141817 7001_ $$aArdanaz, Eva$$b5 000141817 7001_ $$aBesson, Caroline$$b6 000141817 7001_ $$aBoeing, Heiner$$b7 000141817 7001_ $$aBueno-de-Mesquita, Bas$$b8 000141817 7001_ $$aCervenka, Iris$$b9 000141817 7001_ $$0P:(DE-HGF)0$$aFortner, R Enée T$$b10 000141817 7001_ $$aFournier, Agnès$$b11 000141817 7001_ $$aGunter, Marc$$b12 000141817 7001_ $$aHarlid, Sophia$$b13 000141817 7001_ $$aHuerta, José María$$b14 000141817 7001_ $$aJerkeman, Mats$$b15 000141817 7001_ $$aJirström, Karin$$b16 000141817 7001_ $$0P:(DE-He78)4b2dc91c9d1ac33a1c0e0777d0c1697a$$aKaaks, Rudolf$$b17$$udkfz 000141817 7001_ $$aKarakatsani, Anna$$b18 000141817 7001_ $$aKhaw, Kay-Tee$$b19 000141817 7001_ $$aKotanidou, Anastasia$$b20 000141817 7001_ $$aLund, Eiliv$$b21 000141817 7001_ $$aMasala, Giovanna$$b22 000141817 7001_ $$aMattiello, Amalia$$b23 000141817 7001_ $$aMelin, Beatrice$$b24 000141817 7001_ $$aMenéndez, Virginia$$b25 000141817 7001_ $$aMurphy, Neil$$b26 000141817 7001_ $$aNieters, Alexandra$$b27 000141817 7001_ $$aOvervad, Kim$$b28 000141817 7001_ $$aRiboli, Elio$$b29 000141817 7001_ $$aSacerdote, Carlotta$$b30 000141817 7001_ $$aSánchez, Maria-Jose$$b31 000141817 7001_ $$aSchmidt, Julie A$$b32 000141817 7001_ $$aSieri, Sabina$$b33 000141817 7001_ $$aTjønneland, Anne$$b34 000141817 7001_ $$aTrichopoulou, Antonia$$b35 000141817 7001_ $$aTumino, Rosario$$b36 000141817 7001_ $$aVermeulen, Roel$$b37 000141817 7001_ $$aWeiderpass, Elisabete$$b38 000141817 7001_ $$ade Sanjosé, Silvia$$b39 000141817 7001_ $$aAgudo, Antonio$$b40 000141817 7001_ $$aCasabonne, Delphine$$b41 000141817 773__ $$0PERI:(DE-600)2030043-8$$a10.1093/aje/kwy259$$n2$$p274-281$$tAmerican journal of epidemiology$$v188$$x1476-6256$$y2019 000141817 909CO $$ooai:inrepo02.dkfz.de:141817$$pVDB 000141817 9101_ $$0I:(DE-588b)2036810-0$$6P:(DE-HGF)0$$aDeutsches Krebsforschungszentrum$$b10$$kDKFZ 000141817 9101_ $$0I:(DE-588b)2036810-0$$6P:(DE-He78)4b2dc91c9d1ac33a1c0e0777d0c1697a$$aDeutsches Krebsforschungszentrum$$b17$$kDKFZ 000141817 9131_ $$0G:(DE-HGF)POF3-313$$1G:(DE-HGF)POF3-310$$2G:(DE-HGF)POF3-300$$3G:(DE-HGF)POF3$$4G:(DE-HGF)POF$$aDE-HGF$$bGesundheit$$lKrebsforschung$$vCancer risk factors and prevention$$x0 000141817 9141_ $$y2019 000141817 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0420$$2StatID$$aNationallizenz 000141817 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0100$$2StatID$$aJCR$$bAM J EPIDEMIOL : 2017 000141817 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0200$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bSCOPUS 000141817 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0300$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bMedline 000141817 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0310$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bNCBI Molecular Biology Database 000141817 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0320$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bPubMed Central 000141817 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0600$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bEbsco Academic Search 000141817 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0030$$2StatID$$aPeer Review$$bASC 000141817 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0199$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bClarivate Analytics Master Journal List 000141817 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0110$$2StatID$$aWoS$$bScience Citation Index 000141817 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0150$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bWeb of Science Core Collection 000141817 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0111$$2StatID$$aWoS$$bScience Citation Index Expanded 000141817 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)1110$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bCurrent Contents - Clinical Medicine 000141817 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)1030$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bCurrent Contents - Life Sciences 000141817 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)1050$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bBIOSIS Previews 000141817 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)9900$$2StatID$$aIF < 5 000141817 9201_ $$0I:(DE-He78)C020-20160331$$kC020$$lEpidemiologie von Krebserkrankungen$$x0 000141817 980__ $$ajournal 000141817 980__ $$aVDB 000141817 980__ $$aI:(DE-He78)C020-20160331 000141817 980__ $$aUNRESTRICTED
