However, epidemiological evidence is still limited and inconsistent. Therefore, we aimed to investigate this association in a large prospective study.The study was conducted in the EPIC (European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition) cohort, which included 476,108 adult men and women. Coffee and tea intakes were assessed through validated country-specific dietary questionnaires.During a mean follow-up of 14 years, 748 first incident differentiated TC cases (including 601 papillary and 109 follicular TC) were identified. Coffee consumption (per 100 mL/day) was not associated either with total differentiated TC risk (HRcalibrated 1.00, 95% CI 0.97-1.04) or with the risk of TC subtypes. Tea consumption (per 100 mL/day) was not associated with the risk of total differentiated TC (HRcalibrated 0.98, 95% CI 0.95-1.02) and papillary tumor (HRcalibrated 0.99, 95% CI 0.95-1.03), whereas an inverse association was found with follicular tumor risk (HRcalibrated 0.90, 95% CI 0.81-0.99), but this association was based on a sub-analysis with a small number of cancer cases.In this large prospective study, coffee and tea consumptions were not associated with TC risk. 000148332 536__ $$0G:(DE-HGF)POF3-313$$a313 - Cancer risk factors and prevention (POF3-313)$$cPOF3-313$$fPOF III$$x0 000148332 588__ $$aDataset connected to CrossRef, PubMed, 000148332 7001_ $$aAlghamdi, Muath A$$b1 000148332 7001_ $$00000-0003-4155-298X$$aCayssials, Valerie$$b2 000148332 7001_ $$aFranceschi, Silvia$$b3 000148332 7001_ $$aAlmquist, Martin$$b4 000148332 7001_ $$aHennings, Joakim$$b5 000148332 7001_ $$aSandström, Maria$$b6 000148332 7001_ $$aTsilidis, Konstantinos K$$b7 000148332 7001_ $$00000-0003-2237-0128$$aWeiderpass, Elisabete$$b8 000148332 7001_ $$aBoutron-Ruault, Marie-Christine$$b9 000148332 7001_ $$aHammer Bech, Bodil$$b10 000148332 7001_ $$aOvervad, Kim$$b11 000148332 7001_ $$aTjønneland, Anne$$b12 000148332 7001_ $$aPetersen, Kristina E N$$b13 000148332 7001_ $$aMancini, Francesca Romana$$b14 000148332 7001_ $$aMahamat-Saleh, Yahya$$b15 000148332 7001_ $$aBonnet, Fabrice$$b16 000148332 7001_ $$0P:(DE-He78)0907a10ba1dc8f53f04907f54f6fdcfe$$aKühn, Tilman$$b17$$udkfz 000148332 7001_ $$0P:(DE-He78)74a6af8347ec5cbd4b77e562e10ca1f2$$aFortner, Renée T$$b18$$udkfz 000148332 7001_ $$aBoeing, Heiner$$b19 000148332 7001_ $$aTrichopoulou, Antonia$$b20 000148332 7001_ $$aBamia, Christina$$b21 000148332 7001_ $$aMartimianaki, Georgia$$b22 000148332 7001_ $$aMasala, Giovanna$$b23 000148332 7001_ $$aGrioni, Sara$$b24 000148332 7001_ $$aPanico, Salvatore$$b25 000148332 7001_ $$aTumino, Rosario$$b26 000148332 7001_ $$aFasanelli, Francesca$$b27 000148332 7001_ $$aSkeie, Guri$$b28 000148332 7001_ $$aBraaten, Tonje$$b29 000148332 7001_ $$aLasheras, Cristina$$b30 000148332 7001_ $$aSalamanca-Fernández, Elena$$b31 000148332 7001_ $$aAmiano, Pilar$$b32 000148332 7001_ $$aChirlaque, Maria-Dolores$$b33 000148332 7001_ $$aBarricarte, Aurelio$$b34 000148332 7001_ $$aManjer, Jonas$$b35 000148332 7001_ $$aWallström, Peter$$b36 000148332 7001_ $$aBueno-de-Mesquita, H Bas$$b37 000148332 7001_ $$aPeeters, Petra H$$b38 000148332 7001_ $$aKhaw, Kay-Thee$$b39 000148332 7001_ $$aWareham, Nicholas J$$b40 000148332 7001_ $$aSchmidt, Julie A$$b41 000148332 7001_ $$aAune, Dagfinn$$b42 000148332 7001_ $$aByrnes, Graham$$b43 000148332 7001_ $$00000-0001-6651-6710$$aScalbert, Augustin$$b44 000148332 7001_ $$00000-0001-9900-5677$$aAgudo, Antonio$$b45 000148332 7001_ $$aRinaldi, Sabina$$b46 000148332 773__ $$0PERI:(DE-600)1463312-7$$a10.1007/s00394-018-1874-z$$gVol. 58, no. 8, p. 3303 - 3312$$n8$$p3303 - 3312$$tEuropean journal of nutrition$$v58$$x1436-6215$$y2019 000148332 909CO $$ooai:inrepo02.dkfz.de:148332$$pVDB 000148332 9101_ $$0I:(DE-588b)2036810-0$$6P:(DE-He78)0907a10ba1dc8f53f04907f54f6fdcfe$$aDeutsches Krebsforschungszentrum$$b17$$kDKFZ 000148332 9101_ $$0I:(DE-588b)2036810-0$$6P:(DE-He78)74a6af8347ec5cbd4b77e562e10ca1f2$$aDeutsches Krebsforschungszentrum$$b18$$kDKFZ 000148332 9131_ $$0G:(DE-HGF)POF3-313$$1G:(DE-HGF)POF3-310$$2G:(DE-HGF)POF3-300$$3G:(DE-HGF)POF3$$4G:(DE-HGF)POF$$aDE-HGF$$bGesundheit$$lKrebsforschung$$vCancer risk factors and prevention$$x0 000148332 9141_ $$y2019 000148332 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0420$$2StatID$$aNationallizenz 000148332 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0200$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bSCOPUS 000148332 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0300$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bMedline 000148332 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0600$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bEbsco Academic Search 000148332 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0030$$2StatID$$aPeer Review$$bASC 000148332 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0100$$2StatID$$aJCR$$bEUR J NUTR : 2017 000148332 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0310$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bNCBI Molecular Biology Database 000148332 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0199$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bClarivate Analytics Master Journal List 000148332 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0111$$2StatID$$aWoS$$bScience Citation Index Expanded 000148332 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0150$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bWeb of Science Core Collection 000148332 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)1060$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bCurrent Contents - Agriculture, Biology and Environmental Sciences 000148332 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)1050$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bBIOSIS Previews 000148332 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)9900$$2StatID$$aIF < 5 000148332 9201_ $$0I:(DE-He78)C020-20160331$$kC020$$lEpidemiologie von Krebserkrankungen$$x0 000148332 980__ $$ajournal 000148332 980__ $$aVDB 000148332 980__ $$aI:(DE-He78)C020-20160331 000148332 980__ $$aUNRESTRICTED
