Hence, prevention or reduction of obesity could prevent high OS and subsequently serve as a target for 'healthy aging.'Diacron's reactive oxygen metabolites test (D-ROM) and total thiol levels (TTL), a marker of antioxidant defense capacity, were measured in 1,734 participants of a population-based cohort study of older adults (age range: 57-83 years) at 2 time points 3 years apart. The longitudinal associations of body mass index, waist-to-hip ratio, and waist circumference with D-ROM and TTL were assessed with multivariable adjusted generalized linear models. Dose-response analyses were conducted with restricted cubic splines.D-ROM was not significantly associated with any of the weight measures. On the contrary, TTL showed statistically significant, inverse linear associations with all weight measures.A healthy body weight seems to be highly relevant for the antioxidative defense capacity of human beings. In contrast, D-ROM levels were independent of the study participant's weight. Clinical trials are needed to corroborate if loss of weight by obese individuals can effectively increase TTL and subsequently also life expectancy. 000153245 536__ $$0G:(DE-HGF)POF3-313$$a313 - Cancer risk factors and prevention (POF3-313)$$cPOF3-313$$fPOF III$$x0 000153245 588__ $$aDataset connected to PubMed, 000153245 7001_ $$aJansen, Eugène H J M$$b1 000153245 7001_ $$0P:(DE-He78)8218df9f6f41792399cd3a29b587e4e7$$aGào, Xīn$$b2$$udkfz 000153245 7001_ $$0P:(DE-He78)ebbb855092f574cef61b6f3ce7640d87$$aXuan, Yang$$b3$$udkfz 000153245 7001_ $$0P:(DE-He78)90d5535ff896e70eed81f4a4f6f22ae2$$aBrenner, Hermann$$b4$$udkfz 000153245 7001_ $$0P:(DE-He78)c67a12496b8aac150c0eef888d808d46$$aSchöttker, Ben$$b5$$eLast author$$udkfz 000153245 773__ $$0PERI:(DE-600)2455819-9$$a10.1159/000504711 $$n1$$p66-76$$tObesity facts$$v13$$x1662-4025$$y2020 000153245 909CO $$ooai:inrepo02.dkfz.de:153245$$pVDB 000153245 9101_ $$0I:(DE-588b)2036810-0$$6P:(DE-He78)c78a3ddbabb2155657210120936e9801$$aDeutsches Krebsforschungszentrum$$b0$$kDKFZ 000153245 9101_ $$0I:(DE-588b)2036810-0$$6P:(DE-He78)8218df9f6f41792399cd3a29b587e4e7$$aDeutsches Krebsforschungszentrum$$b2$$kDKFZ 000153245 9101_ $$0I:(DE-588b)2036810-0$$6P:(DE-He78)ebbb855092f574cef61b6f3ce7640d87$$aDeutsches Krebsforschungszentrum$$b3$$kDKFZ 000153245 9101_ $$0I:(DE-588b)2036810-0$$6P:(DE-He78)90d5535ff896e70eed81f4a4f6f22ae2$$aDeutsches Krebsforschungszentrum$$b4$$kDKFZ 000153245 9101_ $$0I:(DE-588b)2036810-0$$6P:(DE-He78)c67a12496b8aac150c0eef888d808d46$$aDeutsches Krebsforschungszentrum$$b5$$kDKFZ 000153245 9131_ $$0G:(DE-HGF)POF3-313$$1G:(DE-HGF)POF3-310$$2G:(DE-HGF)POF3-300$$3G:(DE-HGF)POF3$$4G:(DE-HGF)POF$$aDE-HGF$$bGesundheit$$lKrebsforschung$$vCancer risk factors and prevention$$x0 000153245 9141_ $$y2020 000153245 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0410$$2StatID$$aAllianz-Lizenz 000153245 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0420$$2StatID$$aNationallizenz 000153245 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0100$$2StatID$$aJCR$$bOBESITY FACTS : 2017 000153245 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0200$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bSCOPUS 000153245 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0300$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bMedline 000153245 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0310$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bNCBI Molecular Biology Database 000153245 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0320$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bPubMed Central 000153245 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0501$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bDOAJ Seal 000153245 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0500$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bDOAJ 000153245 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0030$$2StatID$$aPeer Review$$bDOAJ : Blind peer review 000153245 915__ $$0LIC:(DE-HGF)CCBYNCNDNV$$2V:(DE-HGF)$$aCreative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs CC BY-NC-ND (No Version)$$bDOAJ 000153245 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0199$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bClarivate Analytics Master Journal List 000153245 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0111$$2StatID$$aWoS$$bScience Citation Index Expanded 000153245 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0150$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bWeb of Science Core Collection 000153245 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)1110$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bCurrent Contents - Clinical Medicine 000153245 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)9900$$2StatID$$aIF < 5 000153245 9202_ $$0I:(DE-He78)C070-20160331$$kC070$$lC070 Klinische Epidemiologie und Alternf.$$x0 000153245 9200_ $$0I:(DE-He78)C070-20160331$$kC070$$lC070 Klinische Epidemiologie und Alternf.$$x0 000153245 9201_ $$0I:(DE-He78)C070-20160331$$kC070$$lC070 Klinische Epidemiologie und Alternf.$$x0 000153245 9201_ $$0I:(DE-He78)C120-20160331$$kC120$$lPräventive Onkologie$$x1 000153245 9201_ $$0I:(DE-He78)HD01-20160331$$kHD01$$lDKTK HD zentral$$x2 000153245 980__ $$ajournal 000153245 980__ $$aVDB 000153245 980__ $$aI:(DE-He78)C070-20160331 000153245 980__ $$aI:(DE-He78)C120-20160331 000153245 980__ $$aI:(DE-He78)HD01-20160331 000153245 980__ $$aUNRESTRICTED
