Circulating concentrations of 9 biomarkers related to the B vitamins folate, riboflavin, vitamin B6, and cobalamin were measured at diagnosis and 6 months postdiagnosis. Information on dietary supplement use was collected at both time points. Health-related quality of life (global quality of life, functioning scales, and fatigue) was assessed by the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire 6 months postdiagnosis. Confounder-adjusted linear regression analyses were performed, adjusted for multiple testing.Higher pyridoxal 5'-phosphate (PLP) was cross-sectionally associated with better physical, role, and social functioning, as well as reduced fatigue, 6 months postdiagnosis. Associations were observed for a doubling in the hydroxykynurenine ratio [3-hydroxykynurenine: (kynurenic acid + xanthurenic acid + 3-hydroxyanthranilic acid + anthranilic acid); an inverse marker of vitamin B6] and both reduced global quality of life (β = -3.62; 95% CI: -5.88, -1.36) and worse physical functioning (β = -5.01; 95% CI: -7.09, -2.94). Dose-response relations were observed for PLP and quality of life. No associations were observed for changes in biomarker concentrations between diagnosis and 6 months. Participants who stopped using B-vitamin supplements after diagnosis reported higher fatigue than nonusers.Higher vitamin B6 status was associated with better quality of life, yet limited associations were observed for the use of B-vitamin supplements. Vitamin B6 needs further study to clarify its role in relation to quality of life. 000167785 536__ $$0G:(DE-HGF)POF4-313$$a313 - Krebsrisikofaktoren und Prävention (POF4-313)$$cPOF4-313$$fPOF IV$$x0 000167785 588__ $$aDataset connected to CrossRef, PubMed, 000167785 650_7 $$2Other$$aB vitamins 000167785 650_7 $$2Other$$abiomarkers 000167785 650_7 $$2Other$$acolorectal cancer 000167785 650_7 $$2Other$$adietary supplement use 000167785 650_7 $$2Other$$afatigue 000167785 650_7 $$2Other$$afolates 000167785 650_7 $$2Other$$afunctioning 000167785 650_7 $$2Other$$ahealth-related quality of life 000167785 650_7 $$2Other$$apyridoxal 5′-phosphate 000167785 650_7 $$2Other$$avitamin B6 000167785 7001_ $$aBours, Martijn J L$$b1 000167785 7001_ $$aGeijsen, Anne J M R$$b2 000167785 7001_ $$aGigic, Biljana$$b3 000167785 7001_ $$aUlvik, Arve$$b4 000167785 7001_ $$aKok, Dieuwertje E$$b5 000167785 7001_ $$aBrezina, Stefanie$$b6 000167785 7001_ $$aOse, Jennifer$$b7 000167785 7001_ $$aBaierl, Andreas$$b8 000167785 7001_ $$aBöhm, Jürgen$$b9 000167785 7001_ $$0P:(DE-He78)90d5535ff896e70eed81f4a4f6f22ae2$$aBrenner, Hermann$$b10$$udkfz 000167785 7001_ $$aBreukink, Stéphanie O$$b11 000167785 7001_ $$0P:(DE-He78)c259d6cc99edf5c7bc7ce22c7f87c253$$aChang-Claude, Jenny$$b12$$udkfz 000167785 7001_ $$avan Duijnhoven, Fränzel J B$$b13 000167785 7001_ $$avan Duijvendijk, Peter$$b14 000167785 7001_ $$aGumpenberger, Tanja$$b15 000167785 7001_ $$aHabermann, Nina$$b16 000167785 7001_ $$avan Halteren, Henk K$$b17 000167785 7001_ $$0P:(DE-He78)6c5d058b7552d071a7fa4c5e943fff0f$$aHoffmeister, Michael$$b18$$udkfz 000167785 7001_ $$aHolowatyj, Andreana N$$b19 000167785 7001_ $$aJanssen-Heijnen, Maryska L G$$b20 000167785 7001_ $$aKeulen, Eric T P$$b21 000167785 7001_ $$aKiblawi, Rama$$b22 000167785 7001_ $$aKruyt, Flip M$$b23 000167785 7001_ $$aLi, Christopher I$$b24 000167785 7001_ $$aLin, Tengda$$b25 000167785 7001_ $$aMidttun, Øivind$$b26 000167785 7001_ $$aPeoples, Anita R$$b27 000167785 7001_ $$avan Roekel, Eline H$$b28 000167785 7001_ $$aSchneider, Martin A$$b29 000167785 7001_ $$0P:(DE-He78)01ef71f71b01a3ec3b698653fd43fe86$$aSchrotz-King, Petra$$b30$$udkfz 000167785 7001_ $$aUlrich, Alexis B$$b31 000167785 7001_ $$aVickers, Kathy$$b32 000167785 7001_ $$aWesselink, Evertine$$b33 000167785 7001_ $$ade Wilt, Johannes H W$$b34 000167785 7001_ $$aGsur, Andrea$$b35 000167785 7001_ $$aUeland, Per M$$b36 000167785 7001_ $$aUlrich, Cornelia M$$b37 000167785 7001_ $$aKampman, Ellen$$b38 000167785 7001_ $$aWeijenberg, Matty P$$b39 000167785 773__ $$0PERI:(DE-600)1496439-9$$a10.1093/ajcn/nqaa422$$gp. nqaa422$$n6$$p1468-1481$$tThe American journal of clinical nutrition$$v113$$x1938-3207$$y2021 000167785 909CO $$ooai:inrepo02.dkfz.de:167785$$pVDB 000167785 9101_ $$0I:(DE-588b)2036810-0$$6P:(DE-He78)90d5535ff896e70eed81f4a4f6f22ae2$$aDeutsches Krebsforschungszentrum$$b10$$kDKFZ 000167785 9101_ $$0I:(DE-588b)2036810-0$$6P:(DE-He78)c259d6cc99edf5c7bc7ce22c7f87c253$$aDeutsches Krebsforschungszentrum$$b12$$kDKFZ 000167785 9101_ $$0I:(DE-588b)2036810-0$$6P:(DE-He78)6c5d058b7552d071a7fa4c5e943fff0f$$aDeutsches Krebsforschungszentrum$$b18$$kDKFZ 000167785 9101_ $$0I:(DE-588b)2036810-0$$6P:(DE-He78)01ef71f71b01a3ec3b698653fd43fe86$$aDeutsches Krebsforschungszentrum$$b30$$kDKFZ 000167785 9130_ $$0G:(DE-HGF)POF3-313$$1G:(DE-HGF)POF3-310$$2G:(DE-HGF)POF3-300$$3G:(DE-HGF)POF3$$4G:(DE-HGF)POF$$aDE-HGF$$bGesundheit$$lKrebsforschung$$vCancer risk factors and prevention$$x0 000167785 9131_ $$0G:(DE-HGF)POF4-313$$1G:(DE-HGF)POF4-310$$2G:(DE-HGF)POF4-300$$3G:(DE-HGF)POF4$$4G:(DE-HGF)POF$$aDE-HGF$$bGesundheit$$lKrebsforschung$$vKrebsrisikofaktoren und Prävention$$x0 000167785 9141_ $$y2021 000167785 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0200$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bSCOPUS$$d2021-02-02 000167785 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0300$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bMedline$$d2021-02-02 000167785 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0320$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bPubMed Central$$d2021-02-02 000167785 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0199$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bClarivate Analytics Master Journal List$$d2021-02-02 000167785 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)1030$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bCurrent Contents -
