Abstract: This fact sheet provides epidemiology statistics as well as economic burden of disease information on colorectal cancer (CRC) in Germany. Epidemiology figures are constructed from the records of the German Centre for Cancer Registry Data (ZfKD) at the Robert Koch Institute (RKI). The ZfKD was established with the Federal Cancer Registry Cancer Data Act of 2009 (Bundesgesetzblatt, 2009), and since 2011, it has been compiling cancer epidemiology data from every regional cancer registry on an annual basis. By 2014, ZfKD cancer records have been estimated to account for 93% of all cancer illness cases in Germany (RKI, 2018). Economic cost information are collected from published CRC cost studies in Germany and relevant grey literature. PubMed and Google Scholar are used to search for published cost studies. Grey literature includes reports and publications from agencies such as the sickness funds, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), and the Health Technology Assessment (HTA) agencies.
