Abstract: • Inflammatory response is evaluated via microglia density, location and activation. • Microglia parameters are shown for whole mouse brain slices co-registered with dose. • Microglia density increases in accordance with the contrast-enhanced volume. • Microglia density increase is mainly attributed to the radiated region. • Periventricular and high dose areas show increased microglia activation and proliferation.
